Student Council

Have you ever wondered what goes on during Student Council meetings? At a typical meeting, two to three representatives from each class meet in Mrs. Walton’s 6th-grade room during 4th and 5th-grade recess and 6th-grade lunch. We talk about school programs and discuss the school store. We listen to comments and decide on projects. Then we make things happen.

Since it’s October and Halloween is coming, that means the School Costume Contest! The School Costume Contest is an in-school event that is held the day before Halloween. You could dress up in the scariest costume, or the funniest. There are six categories; three winners for each one. The Student Council will judge and those three winners will get a cool prize!

Every year, the Student Council commits to one big project to improve the school. Last year we built picnic tables for the playground. You can let us know what you want to add this year. Just share your thoughts with the Student Council representative in your class.

Being part of the Student Council is a cool thing to do for our school. You can support the Student Council by buying things at the school store on Thursdays. Everything at the store costs from 5 cents to 8 dollars. You can also ask the representatives in your class to pre-order what you want. Your order will probably be filled by the next week.

Even though you might not be part of Student Council, you can still help!
